Getting out of your own comfort zone can be really scary. Meeting people whom you have not seen for eons can be getting out of comfort zone too. However, i am really glad that i did today.
Having dinner with old friends can be really nice. Talking about the past, the present and the future. Just chilling out together makes me realize how much we have grown.
I would never try to wriggle out of any outings again.

Review: Riverside Indonesian Restaurant
Riverside Indonesian Restaurant
Address: 30 Merchant Road, Riverside Point, #01-04, Singapore 058282 (opposite Clark Quay
I am sure that many people would have seen the advertisements from this restaurant on TV several times. So this time, i gave this place a try. Firstly, i must say that the 'Riverside' appeal is not really there. The outdoor dining area is separated from the 'River' by the walkway, so you dont really feel that it is the 'Riverside'
Now on to the food,

This is supposedly the sambal stingray i guess... The sambal sent people spewing fire.... Pretty nice for chilli and sambal lovers.... Im not a supporter of stingray though... ahaha...
Yes, Spicy Kangkong... Hmmm... Its Kang Kong right? haha... Whatever, this dish is really spicy! But nice if you pair this up with lots of rice. Not too bad, how nice can kang kong be? Ze char standard there...
This entire 'basket' of rice is refillable. Went with 8 girls, so the rice is more than sufficient. No refills needed.

This tahu looks crispy... But it is only so on the most outer layer... Other than that, there is a pretty strong beancurd skin taste to it.... It is nice for the very first bite... Not something that we finish.
Other than that, there is also satay, curry chicken, sotong, BBQ fish which are all pretty nice. All these and drinks for $13.90++ per pax. There is a standard number of dishes that you can order, but they will serve more, eg 2 tahu according to the number of people. It is rather cheap la... For a decent gathering... Oh... but the food gave my friend who had a weak stomach runs though.. so if you cant take spicy food, maybe you should avoid this restaurant....
In all, the food is slightly better than average ze char but with good company, it can be an enjoyable dinner.

The wanted man. Singapore JI leader Mas Selamat Bin Kastari, escaped from custody on 27/02/2008. Just as a reminder, "Mas Selamat, who was allegedly behind a plot to hijack a plane and crash it into Singapore's Changi Airport, was an important and dangerous member of the JI, experts said." (Source: Asiaone News)
It is creepy to feel that such a character is out there somewhere. I wonder if there is any assistance from outside that helped him escape so fast? He is after all the leader of Singapore JI with a limp... Hope people can keep a lookout and get him arrested as soon as possible. Now the entire terrorist issue seems so so real again.
If only someone like L is around, probably he can shed some light as to where this guy will be..... Hahah.. if only...
For more information, simply tune in to any radio station or any news website.... Take a good look at the photo and keep a lookout for this person!

Review: Crystal Jade Hong Kong Cafe
Located at 1 Liang Seah Street #01-12 ,
the Crystal Jade Hong Kong Cafe really lives up to the name of the Crystal Jade group. The opening of this Hong Kong Cafe also gives the poor shoppers at bugis junction more choice. Definitely much better than some other Hong Kong case down the road which have a pinky and greenish exterior
Since this is my first time to the place, i decided to try a set that they have to offer. Which includes minestrone soup (above), a main course which you can choose from fillet with rice, fried chicken wing with rice and many others. On top of that, you can also choose from a list of Hong Kong style desserts. There are also two other set meals available for those who would like to try Japanese and Korean food or some Italian style. But firstly, the soup. It is the type of nice minestrone soup. Minestrone soup cant get very very nice, but this is at least the best that it can get. A slightly spicy taste served hot adds to the flavour of the soup. What's really impressive and scary about this soup is elaborated later.
The main course of my set! I chose duck breast fried rice. The duck breast meat, which is the ham-like meat in the picture have a very distinct smoked duck taste to it. So for those who dont really like char siew might not like this dish. But for me, the smoked meat is TASTY! Something is not very right about the fried rice though, there is this weird bean stuff that added a weird taste to the fried rice, a little sourish. Maybe its the Hong Kong style? I can only speculate.
There! A comparison of the size of the soup and the fried rice. The bowl of soup is as big as the fried rice ok? My gosh.... took more time finishing the soup. haha... which is really funny. Oh, forgot to mention that the veggies in the soup is so generous that you can have a mouthful of veggie with every mouthful. Yummy and appetizing.
This is a seafood baked spaghetti that my friend ordered. Since i cant take most seafood, i couldnt try this. Looks yummy though. Got a bite of the fish in the dish and the creamy fish really made its statement!
What's the best way to end a meal?! 杨汁甘露!The pomelo in this dessert is not the bitter type. So, SAVED from the bitter pomelo! Yay! Hahah... Very milky mango cream... its nice but might be little too watery.
All in all, a pretty good meal for just $12.80++ gst and service charge (not including the spaghetti). And a good choice for people who wouldnt want to have western food or steamboat around bugis area.

TOPONE KTV review
Address: 530 North Bridge Rd #02-01 Bugis Point ( Old Icon,Opposite Bugis Junction )
Tel: 62388198
Was drawn to the KTV by a very big sign outside which says that the price for a KTV session from 11am-7pm is $15 with unlimited non-alcoholic drink. What a good deal, and so we went in for a smashing good time.
My first impression of the place is seriously how new the place is. A little claustrophobic though since they gave us a small room for the 2 of us. Nothing to complain about, especially when we are busy gawking over the system they have.
Tada! This KTV dont go for the normal remote control system. Who cares about that man? Oh... and this is not the system that you see at bowling alleys of course. You can choose songs, change keys, and all the rest with this system. And the system dont just stop at the songs... There are different lightings to choose from, namely, the 'very bright' if you want to do your homework there (duh), the 'soft lighting' which is pretty normal with coloured lights from the table, the 'stage lighting' for different light patterns on the wall and also the 'disco lighting' that sends your head thumping with the flashing white light which is really disturbing. Sounds simple... but i think it is really fascinating for those who are there for the 1st time. Things like smoke, TV and games dont work though.... but hello... KTV is for singing. hahaha

Another thing that impressed me is the fact that there is a photo for ALL the singers... No joke... Who is Y.I.Y.O?!~~~ Really respect them for the effort.
Afraid that your saliva might be left on the mic? No worries! The disposable mic cover is here! The friendly staff will put the cover on for you once you enter the room to ensure the 'freshness' of the cover. Perfect.
The free flow of drinks is no joke. Just look at the glass. Saves the poor service staff from coming in and out so often. The drink is obviously not very tasty, but liquid is needed for 8 hours of singing. The lychee drink is nice though... Worth a try.
With no outside food and drinks allowed, who wouldn't get humgry entering the KTV at 11am and sing your hearts out till 7pm? The food is available at $6.80 per plate. But if you apply for the membership for just $10 (valid for 2 years), the finger food is just $10 for 3 plates! The popcorn chicken(left) and the fried golden mushroom(right) is yummy, but DONT order the creamy corn... It is just 3 short segments of corn |||...
Heard that they do have recording service for those who wants to 'cut their own album' and they also have rooms with different themes.
There is also room for improvements of course, which includes improving on the english song selection (one forum actually states that the boss is from PRC, so probably that explains the english songs part) and also the airconditioning which is a little too cold for comfort. Of course, the rates for weekends might be a little on the steep side, but it is still comparable to big names like Kbox and Partyworld.
Other than that, with pretty much updated songs, ok sound system, friendly staff and cheap 8 hours KTV, TOPONE is definitely the KTV on the top of my list. =)

Movie Review- Juno
I know this is abit late to do a review on this show but i guess it is better late than never.
This show is listed as a comedy not for nothing. Probably not hilarious but the witty lines from this 16 years old will definitely put a smile on your face and perhaps LOL at times. Other than that, Juno is really a good movie to spend your weekend with.
The love depicted in this show is really sweet- the love of the foster parent, the love from Juno's parent and the love of Juno and her boyfriend is just awfully nice. Nothing really touching, just something that is simple and real. Something that you might just find in real life shown on screen, it is probably the realty of the show that brings it out. Not advocating sex before marriage, but if girls are ever caught in the same situation, why not consider what Juno did? For the love of a stranger who really deserves a child. Just like what the show said, i cant quote word by word, but someone did get a gift from the shitty situation. Making the best of it.
Sometimes it is really not about how much money the show cost to produce, but the nature of the show and how the messages are being put across. Definitely a show that deserves 4 out of 5 stars. Juno is still showing in cinemas! =)

L change the world review
Watched L change the world yesterday with the free tickets that i have won through a contest. Not very sure what to expect since the reviews by magazines seems to be rather bad. Well, i wouldnt blame them since there is this expectations of death note to meet right?
In general, i would actually give this show 3.5 stars out of 5. A deduction of one point since the show did not meet the expectations of the death note series and 0.5 deduction for the fact that the movie is complicated by the many characters with some playing really minor roles. The plot is rather cliche with the spreading of disease thing..... Oh, and there is really no challenge to the mind, or at least, there is no where for you to marvel at how smart the characters are.... Disappointing in that aspect. The 'smart' parts are just shown vaguely, unlike the well planned death note plot.... Really.... Other than that, it is really satisfying for fans of L. L is as charming as before and you see the 'warmer' side of him..... Though it is really different from the death note. The deliberate inclusion of death note in the beginning of the show is really uncalled for though........ Haha....
All in all, if you have nothing better to do, or you really love the eccentric character of L, this show would be worth it. But if you want a show that will leave you feeling that you want to get smarter, this show might just end up being a disappointment... BUT I AM L FAN!!!!!!!!!! hahaha Yup....
